Coffee Project New York is partnering with Chobani to offer six African American coffee professionals across the country scholarships to attend a comprehensive Barista Training Program, professionally certified by the Specialty Coffee Association. This scholarship initiative is launching in commemoration of Black History Month with the goal of promoting a more diverse and inclusive coffee industry. The Coffee Project New York Barista Training Program will be 100% covered by this scholarship, and students will be gifted Breville Barista Pro espresso machines in order to participate.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Coffee Project New York’s comprehensive and fully remote Barista Training Program consists of two Specialty Coffee Association Coffee Skills classes — an Introduction to Coffee course and a Barista Skills Foundation course — to provide coffee professionals with essential skills to help advance their careers: espresso bar skills, proper methods to grind coffee beans, milk techniques and latte art, health and safety, customer service, and basic business practices are all included in the curriculum. Courses are complete with exams and certifications from the Specialty Coffee Association, the international standard in technical coffee education.
Applications will close on March 21, 2021. Scholarship recipients will be notified on April 1, and classes will be held in May 2021.
