Designed for beginners, new baristas, and home brewers, Introduction to Coffee is a comprehensive survey of the coffee production process, from past and present agricultural practices, to grading, processing, roasting, and brewing.
This class is an ideal place for students to begin their professional education and to narrow down or solidify their learning goals. It is also fitting for enthusiasts who want to learn more about the coffee world.

- Coffee-producing practices, regions, and markets
- Basic coffee cupping
Introduction to Coffee is a highly-recommended prerequisite to all other Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) classes, and no prior knowledge of coffee is required to register. This is a half-day class consisting of lecture and cupping. After passing the exam, students will receive a certificate of recognition from the SCA.
