DESCRIPTION

Tare, tamp, pull, pour, repeat. The Barista Intensive workshop is designed for novices, enthusiasts, and beginners who don’t know how to use an espresso machine.

CURRICULUM

  • How to properly pull espresso shots
  • Milk steaming and pouring basic latte art
  • Fundamentals of extraction and how to dial in espresso
  • Proper maintenance practices for espresso bar equipment

Kaleena Teoh is a co-founder at Coffee Project NY, the Academy’s Director of Education and a certified AST (Authorized SCA Trainer) and oversees all Academy lesson plans and curricula. She has a background in psychology, speech pathology, and social work and is fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and American Sign Language.

Peace Sakulclanuwat is a wholesale trainer and educator at Coffee Project NY. She has a passion for teaching and aims to share the tools of coffeemaking with everyone. Peace is a competitor in the US Brewer’s Cup and placed 17th nationwide in 2020.

This is an entry-level workshop designed for beginners and enthusiasts with minimal prior knowledge or practical training in the subject.

Due to highly limited seating and the cost of producing each class, we kindly ask that if you need to change or cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. While we don’t offer refunds for classes, we will accommodate changes based on when you reach out to us and how much advance notice is given before the date of the reservation.

  • Over 4 weeks notice: free rescheduling or credit of equal value toward any class
  • Under 4 weeks notice: $50 rescheduling fee or credit of original value minus $50
  • Under 72 hours notice: 50% rescheduling fee or credit of 50% of original class value
  • Under 24 hours notice: no credit available

With the safety and health of our students and their communities in mind, Coffee Project NY requires proof of vaccination or documentation of a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of the day of our class.

For proof of vaccination, we accept (alongside photo ID):

  • NYC Excelsior Pass
  • NYC Vaccination Record
  • NYC Covid Safe App with photos of your records
  • A government-issued record from outside the U.S.
